Total Voter Registration in 2004 for the Presidential Preference was 3,916,207. Turnout was 786,203.  20.1% turnout rate
Total Voter Registration in 2000 for the Presidential Preference was 6,941,509. Turnout was 1,341,844. 19.3 % turnout rate

With no campaigning in 2008, Barack Obama nearly received as many votes as the winner John Kerry did in 2004, only -5,458 less, and received 124,557 more votes than Al Gore in 2000

With no campaigning in 2008, John Edwards received 175,859 more votes than he did in 2004

With no campaigning in 2008, Hillary Clinton, alone, received more votes than the entire total list of 2004 & 2000 Democrat candidates. She also received more votes than the Republican 2008 winner, John McCain by 169,225 votes. And she received more votes than the entire list of candidates in the Republican Primary of 2000
